Xplor+ Slate: The Xplor+ Slate is a variant of the Road Plus Xplor+ configured for the Cannondale Slate. We use the awesome Project 321 hubs for all of our Lefty based wheels, in this case the Lefty Oliver fork found on the Slate.

Some versions of the Slate come from factory with a road compact double crank and 11-28 gearing. We think that is pretty silly for this bike, and the most common upgrade is to ditch that gearing and add a wide range derailleur and wide range cassette.
The other variant of the Slate comes with SRAM CX1 and hubs with an XD driver and wide range cassette from factory. The XD driver option will also work with a Shimano bike and wide range derailleur mod as shift spacing is the same. Just select the free hub option you want or email us to discuss.
We build these with either Shimano/SRAM HG 11 speed freehubs or SRAM XD drivers. A common gravel bike spec is a wide range, MTB rear derailleur to allow a wide range cassette. Since those cassettes are built on an MTB standard, you need to drop on a 1.8mm "bottom spacer" as you would for any 10 speed cassette on an 11 speed freehub.
With the HG 11 speed freehub you have full flexibility in gearing range (road or MTB). The other option is to choose a SRAM XD driver, especially if your bike has SRAM CX1, The XD cassettes will also work with a Shimano bike and wide range derailleur as shift spacing is the same. We lace the Xplor+ in a 28 hole, 3 cross configuration front and rear. We use Sapim CX Ray spokes in standard build. We can adjust with a burlier spoke like the Sapim Race upon request.
All wheels come tubeless taped with premium alloy valve stems installed, ready for you to mount tubeless tires. Valve stems will be color matched to nipple color where applicable. Quick release wheels will be provided with NEXT steel rod skewers for added security with disc brakes. Through axles are not provided with wheels as they are part of the bike frame system.
